APC Deliberates On 5000 Stipend

APC N5,000 Promise

Immediately after the civil war in 1970, Gen. Yakubu Gowon purposed in his heart to introduce compulsory and free education for the estimated (then) six million primary school age children. By the time that registration ended, no fewer than 11 million children had been registered! The scheme had to be abandoned.

Now, the All Progressives Congress says that it wants to pay a monthly stipend of N5,000 to each of an estimated population of 25 million youths. Questions: 1. How did the party arrive at this figure in a country of nearly 200 million with unbridled population growth? 2. Where would the money come from? 3. What range would the party’s definition of youth be?

It’s human to err. Let the party think of a better and sustainable way to improve the lives of all Nigerians.
